Christine Simmons is out as COO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences


Christine Simmons is no longer COO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Academy revealed her departure in an email this morning which is effective immediately. No successor has been named. In January 2019, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences named Simmons to the position of Chief Operating Officer. She led the first Office of Representation, Inclusion, and Equity and the COVID-19 response task force. She also oversaw the Academy Foundation, its educational programs, Talent Development and Diversity programs, and the Science and Technology Council.
